Event: The Jacksonville Food Fight (22nd Annual)
Date: June 7th , 2012 (Thursday)
Location: Stadium, East Club
Show Time: 6:30pm to 9:00pm
Call Time: Begins at Noon and it is best to be at the stadium by 3:00pm (Speak directly to me for other arrangements).
Recipient: Jacksonville Food Bank (100% of the funds collected)
Dress: Denim (Dress) or Dockers (Volunteer shirt is purchased for $5.00 and worn during the event)
Brief: A one night event that gathers 50+ restaurants and beverage vendors into ‘The Best Kept Secret’ party atmosphere that collects funds for feeding the hungry. All proceeds (100%) collected go directly to the Jacksonville Food Bank.
Duties: Setup, Maintain, and ‘Strikeout’ the event…
Setup:
Begins at Noon (Actually on Wednesday – See Below) and is quite massive in what the restaurants bring into the venue…All volunteers that
can be on site at Noon is deeply appreciated and strongly recommended…The list of actual tasks that are required to complete is to large for
this broadcast (Couldn’t remember them all anyway). It is very fast paced and constant right up to ‘Showtime’.
Maintenance:
Key distribution items include ice, plates, bowls, flatware, napkins etc…The list is endless.
Strikeout:
Reverse the ‘Setup’ process assisting the vendors with removing everything out to their respective vehicles…Breakdown tables and everything
else (Again endless) that it takes to put the venue back into its original shape as it was upon our arrival…It’s important that everyone
participate in this portion to allow everyone to leave timely…Last year we were done by 10:00pm with approximately 45 volunteers (Obviously,
the more the better).
Everyone is as much a ‘Guest’ as they are a ‘Volunteer’…All activities are available for everyone’s participation.
Wednesday Details:
Setup: Wednesday, June 6th
Time: Noon to 6:00pm
Dress: Sturdy Shoes, Comfortable work clothes, Dresses or skirts for the ladies not recommended.
Brief: This is a ‘Pre-Setup’ day that allows restaurant to bring their ‘Wares’ into the venue prior to the event…I strongly recommend the
‘NewBees’ (First timers) to try and participate on this day…It provides an invaluable opportunity to get the ‘Layout’ in a calm
atmosphere…In the past, volunteers have arrived as late as 5:30 to assist in the Pre-Setup activities and to get acclimated to the venue.
